Keighley St Andrew's C Of E Primary School

Our Classes

At Keighley St Andrew's we are a 1.5 form entry school with mixed age classes. We are an inclusive school who believe that quality first teaching and adaptive teaching go hand in hand to enable all pupils to flourish. Teachers, using mixed ability teaching approaches as well as varied pedagogical stances, work to provide classroom environments where pupils are not only engaged in their learning, but invested.

Our three school rules are 'ready, respectful, safe'. Our school staff act as role models of these school rules and encourage all members of our school community to represent these rules to the best of their ability both in their learning and in their actions.

Early Years

In Early Years we work as a single unit with our Nursery pupils and Reception pupils working within a shared space. Our EYFS classes are called Ruby Reception and Ruby Nursery. Within this space, we have two separate classroom areas, continuous provision suitable for all learners and an outdoor space specifically for our younger pupils.

This year, our EYFS team includes:

  • Miss Cariss
  • Mrs Hasan
  • Mrs Ashcroft

Key Stage One

In Key Stage One we have three mixed Year 1/2 classes. Each class is a mixed ability class where learners' individual needs are met through quality first teaching principles as well as adaptive teaching. Within the shared area, continuous provision has been set up following Early Years principles however the opportunities and learning are tailored to that of pupils within Key Stage One.

This year, our KS1 teaching team includes:

  • Mrs Sultan - Emerald Class
  • Mrs Buckley - Diamond Class
  • Miss Yardley - Pearl Class

Additionally, the Treasure Chest provision room has been set up for those learners within Key Stage One who require a bespoke curriculum offer linked to their specific SEND needs. Treasure Chest offers an alternative space for pupils to learn when the mainstream classroom would not be appropriate for their learning to take place. Pupils who access this provision room do so in conjunction with their bespoke learning targets and parental discussions to meet the needs of individuals.
