Autumn 1 home learning

Autumn 1

In RSE we have been learning about feelings. This has involved daily check ins to explore how we are feeling and why we are feeling like that. We have been given different scenario's and have thought about how we might feel in that situation and how you could help someone. We have used role play to act out different feelings and to practice helping others. We then reward each other in the class with a certificate for being a good friend. We thought about what each person does in the class which makes them a good friend.

Over this half term in Values, we have been learning about thankfulness. Our big question is, 'What are we thankful for?' Throughout the half term we have learnt about what it means to be thankful and how we can show thankfulness. We even learnt about the famous person David Walliams and why he links to thankfulness! Did you know that David Walliams once got his fan mail stolen! Today we show case all our amazing learning by leading a class worship!

In Art this half term we are looking at sculptures. In our lesson today, we were introduced to two artists who create sculptures, Eva Rothschild and Jill Townsley. We had a fun and creative lesson, we created sculptures by using straws and play dough in the style of Eva Rothschild. We also used rubber bands and wooden cutlery to create sculptures in the style of Jill Townsley.

Over the half term in problem solving we have been exploring money. We have looked at the different coins and there worth. We have looked at making different amounts using all the coins and only silver coins. We have then answered some worded questions using coins to help us find the answer. In this picture Miss Cariss had a pop-up shop, we picked the item we wanted to buy and he had to make the correct amount. Year 1 made up to 50p and Year 2 made up to £1. We had lots of fun and bought lots of things from the pop-up shop!

KS1 and EYFS have worked super hard on the Nativity this year! The children have spent lots of time learning the songs and their lines. The children did a fantastic job with their acting.
