Courage Knowledge Mat

Whole School Song Knowledge Mat

Earlier this week before the snow hit we enjoyed some fantastic outdoor learning! The children worked together to build a car so they could all go the park, it was great to see them put their seat belts on for safety! They then created a see-saw using the planks and found a way to touch the rope with their feet!

The Smeds and The Smoos

We started to read our new text and the children were delighted to discover an alien called Janet who was from the land of the Smeds. For their golden challenge the children were invited to draw her.

Space Travel

We have been learning all about astronauts, the children have discovered how astronauts prepare for space travel and what life is like in a rocket. The children have learnt about important people from the past including Neil Armstrong and Mae Jemison.

Click on the link below to watch a great JoJo and Gran Gran episode about how to make a rocket.

How to make a rocket!

CoJo

The children have enjoyed their second CoJo session in school. The children went to the hall and discovered another secret mission that had been left for them by Commando Joe! This week the children were introduced to 'Charlie Communication' and he helped guide them through another problem solving task in which they had to effectively communicate with each other to work out how they would cross the river and complete the obstacle course.
It was another great session and we look forward to see who we get to meet next week and what our secret mission will be!

Zoom to the moon...

We have really enjoyed reading Whatever Next, the children have made rockets and explored what telescopes are and why they are used! The children are looking forward to discovering what our next text is tomorrow...can you take a guess?

Reciprocity in Reception

The children in Ruby Reception showed our whole school learning power of reciprocity, they spoke to one another with respect and independently organised themselves in a super straight line each then taking turns to have a go at the interactive shape monster game.

Let's go fly a kite!

We enjoy outdoor learning whatever the weather, even the recent wind from storm Isha and Jocelyn haven't been able to stop us! We made kites and explore how best to make them using different materials.

Lau Lau Songdrawing

This week in our Lau Lau Songdrawing session we thought about wiggly worms and shapes and movements they make. The children put their fine motor skills to the test and created patterns to the music.

CoJo!

Are you ready for a secret mission?

Today the children have had their first CoJo session in school. The children went to the hall and discovered a secret mission that had been left for them by Commando Joe! The children were introduced to 'Tanisha Teamwork' and she helped guide them through a problem solving task in which they had to work as a team to help Tanisha get some flowers to her Grandmas garden.

Ruby Reception - CoJo

It was great to see such fantastic teamworking skills!

Whatever Next!

When the children arrived in class this morning they were met by a surprise visitor, the children spent time predicting who he might be, where he might have come from and why he might have wellies, a colander and a box with him!

He needs his wellies for jumping in muddy puddles on a muddy puddle day!
He might use the colander as a hat...but it does have holes in it!
Did he get all those things from our mud kitchen? I think he might want to play with us.
Is it Daddy bear from Goldilocks?
