Our Autumn Journey

Autumn Term 1

In Science this half term we focused on Living Things and their Habitats. We reminded ourselves of the different animal groups and learned that all living things have different characteristics that make them unique. We used this knowledge to help us create classification keys.

In RE, our big question was What is the Trinity? We focused on understanding the relationship between God, the Father; Jesus, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We learned about the Christian sacrament of Baptism. Christians believe that Baptism cleanses a person of their sins and prepares them to follow a good Christian life. We wrote words that upset us and sins that we have on the playground in chalk and then used the Christian symbol of water to wash these things away.

In RSE, we learned about Relationships. We thought about how important it is for things to work together in order to achieve success and acted this out using simple processes such as making a cup of tea to help us understand this.

Autumn Term 2

In History this half term our big question was Who were the original chocolatiers? We learned about the Ancient Maya civilisation. In one lesson, we became archaeologists. We dug in the sand to find different Mayan artefacts and thought about what these artefacts told us about the Mayan society.

Our DT topic was also linked to our History learning. We made Mayan battle masks using papier mache - it was very messy and creative!

In Science, our topic was Animals, including Humans and we were focusing on teeth and the human digestive system. We made models of our teeth and did an experiment involving poo!

In French our topic was All About Me and we learned how to name different body parts and describe our clothes.
